I'm back!

I'm back! I know it's been quite a while since I posted. I've been baking, but just haven't had the time to take pictures, upload, and write. But don't worry, that hopefully won't happen again! Starting (maybe?) tomorrow, I'll post some new recipes! Oh, right now there are these delicious chocolate chocolate chunk cookies baking in the oven, and they smell amazing!

 See you tomorrow!

What I've been making recently....
Baked Alaska: Homemade funfetti cake with a layer of vanilla bean ice cream and smothered in whipped meringue

Honey Toast: A scoop of vanilla ice cream atop cubes of honey buttered  toast and drizzled with even more honey!

Hello Kitty Waffle O.o

Just a quick post cause I wanted to share with you this super cute waffle I ate the other day! So my friend gave me a hello kitty waffle maker a long long time ago, and I finalyl began using it last weekend. Kay, so maybe this picture isn't that great of a picture (I really wanted to get back to eating!) but the waffles were super fluffy and slightly crispy, just the way i like it, plus they're in the shape of Hello Kitty!! What could be better than that?!?!?!

Bread and Kaki no tane! ^ ^

Woah! :D  Isn't this bread so cool? It's one of the sweet breads from Bakery Manoa. The first time we came we tried the English bread (sorry, no picture). It was pretty good, but this bread was waayyy better. Plus, who doesn't love eating round bread? It reminds me of smuckers sandwiches. But, it so does not taste like their bread, at all (which is good!).
The bread was slightly sweet and super fluffy and soft. I loved eating it plain or with a little lilikoi jam, or both. Oh, and the ridges make the perfect guidelines for slicing. Hehe, since I'm pretty bad at cutting bread ...
Oh, and I forgot to show you guys these cute little boxes. Inside is Kaki no tane (Japanese rice snack that's similar to osenbei). Typically kaki no tane is just spicy/shoyu flavored, but these ones are all different (and very strange) flavors. Cheese or curry flavor, anyone? Haha! Some were surprisingly good (wasabi, maple sugar) other were, well uh, interesting (cheese....).

Tag your it!

I wasn't originally going to post today, but I found out Mellie from Eat, Read, Move and Serena from The Teenage Foodie tagged me in the ...

Gosh, I feel so special! Here are some questions I have to answer:

1. Favorite cartoon character: Hm, probably Perry the Platypus. I love his purr like grrr, and isn't he the cutest secret agent platypus ever?
Phineas and Ferb: Perry the Platypus
 2. Favorite thing to photograph: Food!
Vegan Gingersnaps

3. Favorite thing to cook: Uh, is baking considered cooking? Because then probably baking cookies. They're so versatile and easy to make!

4. Favorite way to exercise: Running...or ocean swimming! I love the adrenaline rush I feel after an intense practice.

5. Favorite Movies: Hm, this is going to be a long list.....Let's see: Ratatouille, The Proposal, She's the Man, Step Up, Twilight, 13 going on 30, Date Night, and Iron Man. Yea, I'm a sucker for chick flicks.

6. Clothing: I know this probably won't come as a surprise considering I live in Hawaii, but I love my shorts!
Shorts from Hollister
7. Flower: Hm, probably lilies. I love all the various colors, especially the pink ones.

Lilies
8. Breakfast: Oh, that's easy. My dad's homemade yogurt, multi grain cheerios, and a bowl of mixed fruit.

9. Book: Recently I read Outliers, and it's now one of my favorite books.
Outliers
10.  What is your least favorite food: Uh, I don't really care for a lot of foods, but one of my least favorite is kale. I just can't stomach that leafy green leaf!

I'm not really sure how these blog awards go, but I don't think I could just choose a few bloggers. So, I'm going to tag all of you! Yep, that's right, everyone!

4th of July Dishes

I was originally going to post a dish that's uber healthy, but I just remembered this weekend is 4th of July. So I thought I would post a couple 4th of July dessert ideas from other blogs. Things are going to be pretty quiet around here, considering the ban on fireworks and all. :( But that doesn't mean I can't have a bbq or make some delicious desserts, especially if they look like these ones:

Red White and Blue Raspberry Candy Bars from Cherry Tea Cakes
Don't those just look amazing? The minute I saw these I dropped off the couch and headed towards the kitchen to make these. Turns out I didn't have enough time to make these before I had to leave. Oh well, maybe tomorrow and hopefully in time for 4th of July.

Fourth of July Jello Shots from Bakers Royale
I don't think I would use the vodka (minor, remember!), but they layering is absolutely gorgeous!

He he he, I guess I should've put my picture first since it's the lamest....But it tasted pretty good! Plus, it's the only 4th of July dessert I had.

Fruit salad from Whole Foods
If you're not in the mood to turn on the stove or oven, then why not try this fresh fruit salad. Plus, if you top with some freshly whipped cream (yum, btw) it will be a refreshing summer dessert!

What's Up With This Weather? And my epiphany

Hey everyone! Have you all been enjoying your summer? Or, if you live in Australia, have you been enjoying your winter? Man, the weather here has been weird. Everyday it rains, but it's still sunny outside. For example, today I was walking to school, the sun was shinning and my face felt like it was burning, then BAM! er, i mean SWISH, all of a sudden this huge sheet of rain just starts to fall, but it's still sunny! At least the rain helps plants grow, like my mom's tomatoes.

I was reading Katie's blog, and she recently wrote a post about what makes a successful blog. As I was reading, I realized I should do what I want on my blog, what I like to do, what I like to eat, not what I think other people want me to. So, I've decided to take more pictures and write less. I know I'm writing a lot now, but I've realized I don't really enjoy writing too much. However, if I only had a photo blog that'd be pretty boring cause my pictures aren't that great either.  I've decided to work on that. My dad lent me his book on photography for the camera we have (rebel T2i), so I've been taking photos of the foliage around my house. I'm still getting the hang of it, so my pictures aren't the greatest, but I'm trying!

Some of my photography attempts...
